Standard (GCEA)
G4 · C4 · E4 · A4The most common ukulele tuning, used on soprano, concert, and tenor ukuleles. The re-entrant G4 string gives the ukulele its bright, characteristic sound.
Low G
G3 · C4 · E4 · A4Same as standard but with a low G string tuned an octave lower. Extends the range downward and is popular for fingerpicking and solo arrangements.
Baritone
D3 · G3 · B3 · E4Standard tuning for baritone ukuleles, matching the top four strings of a guitar. Produces a deeper, warmer tone than soprano or concert ukuleles.
D Tuning (ADF#B)
A4 · D4 · F#4 · B4Also known as English tuning, this raises all strings one whole step above standard. Popular in the early 20th century and produces a brighter sound.
Slack Key
G3 · C4 · E4 · G4Inspired by Hawaiian slack-key guitar tradition. The first string is tuned down from A to G, creating an open C major chord when strummed.
Canadian
A4 · D4 · F#4 · B4A re-entrant D tuning historically associated with Canadian ukulele players. Same pitches as D tuning with a high re-entrant A string.
English
A4 · D4 · F#4 · B4The traditional English ukulele tuning, identical to D tuning. Was the standard tuning in England before GCEA became universal.
